Belonging

Participants in the BrainWaves Cohort study were asked whether the statement “I feel really happy at my school” was true for them.

The graphs show the distribution of responses to this question about their happiness at school, and split by sex, on the first occasion that they completed the BrainWaves Cohort Study questionnaire.

The majority of responders (59.2%) said that they felt really happy at their school, and a higher percentage of males (63.3%) said this than females (56.5%).

The BrainWaves Cohort Study has collected responses from over 24,000 people aged 16-18 in schools across the UK, over three time points in 2024 and 2025.
