Sleep
Participants in the BrainWaves Cohort study were asked “Is the amount of sleep you normally get enough for you to feel awake and concentrate on your work during the day?”
The graphs show the distribution of responses to this question about the amount of sleep they get, and split by sex, on the first occasion that they completed the BrainWaves Cohort Study questionnaire.
Over all respondents, just under half (48.9%) felt that they did not have enough sleep to be able to concentrate at school, with the proportion of females being higher (54.7%) than males (45.3%).
The BrainWaves Cohort Study has collected responses from over 24,000 people aged 16-18 in schools across the UK, over three time points in 2024 and 2025.
