Funding Evidence-Led Change in Adolescent Wellbeing

BrainWaves is a registered charity and works in partnership with trusts and foundations that are committed to improving outcomes for young people through robust evidence, ethical practice, and long-term impact. Our research programme addresses adolescent mental health and wellbeing at scale, combining scientific leadership with practical application in education and communities.

Support from trusts and foundations is vital in enabling BrainWaves to generate high-quality insight and ensure that research informs real-world change.

Why fund BrainWaves?

Adolescent wellbeing is a complex and evolving challenge that requires sustained, evidence-based responses. BrainWaves offers a credible, research-led approach with a strong commitment to transparency, equity, and impact.

Funding from trusts and foundations enables us to:

  • Expand and diversify a national longitudinal cohort, strengthening insight over time
  • Maintain open, secure data infrastructure that supports global research collaboration
  • Translate research into practical tools and resources for schools and educators
  • Design, test, and evaluate interventions grounded in young people’s lived experience

With the support of our funders, we ensure that evidence leads to meaningful and measurable outcomes.

Funding Priorities

Our current priorities for trust and foundation funding include:

  • Increasing cohort reach across underrepresented communities
  • Maintaining strong ethical oversight and data governance frameworks
  • Scaling evidence-based wellbeing tools for schools and youth services
  • Supporting interdisciplinary collaboration between researchers, educators, and young people

We work closely with funders to align proposals with strategic priorities and desired outcomes.
